Heat Pump Maintenance Tips
How to Care for Your Ductless Heat Pump System
Daikin ductless heating and cooling systems feature streamlined, wall-mounted indoor units paired with quiet and compact outdoor units. To extend the life of your heat pump and get the best out of it, it’s important to maintain it.

Keep your Ductless System Clean
Wipe down the outside of the unit with a damp cloth to prevent dust build up.

Keep Space Around the Unit
Don’t place furniture, pictures frames, or other items close to the indoor unit. Make sure all foliage, shrubs and plants are trimmed back from the outdoor unit.

Clean Your Filters!
Each Daikin ductless unit has a removeable air filter that should be cleaned at least once a month (depending on the amount of pet hair, dust, or debris in your space).
- Make sure the heat pump is turned off
- Push up the cover on the top of the unit
- Remove the filters
- Clean the filters with either a vacuum or by running them under cold water
- Pat them dry with a paper towel or leave them to air dry before putting them back in the unit

Pay Attention to the Seasons
Check for snow or ice build-up during the winter to ensure good air flow through the unit. If snow or ice restricts the air flow, you will lose efficiency and your heat pump will strain to keep up its pace.
In the summer, make sure the outdoor unit is clear of any vegetation and debris. Check that grass clippings, branches, or dead leaves are away from the heat pump to ensure there are no air flow blockages.

Clean the Condenser (Outdoor Unit)
Turn your Daikin ductless unit off, then using a garden hose, spray any dirt or dust off the coil. Avoid using high pressure, as you can easily bend the fins.

Schedule Regular Maintenance Appointments
Maintaining your equipment properly will help prevent untimely breakdowns, improve air quality, save money on your utility bills and extend the life of your HVAC system.
