Trees of Joy in Halifax

At Ready Refrigeration, we believe in the power of community and the importance of spreading joy, especially during the holiday season. That’s why we are proud to sponsor a tree for a wish child in the Trees of Joy campaign. Presented by CN, it is a heartwarming initiative that unites corporate donors with wish kids and their families to make dreams come true. Launched in Toronto in 2016 with just eight trees, it has now spread across Canada, attracting top corporate and community donors.

The Trees of Joy campaign supports Make-A-Wish by raising funds for children with critical illnesses. This initiative invites community members to donate, offering a chance to win exciting prizes, including a helicopter tour of Halifax. The campaign aims to bring joy and hope to families during the holiday season, creating unforgettable memories for children with critical illnesses.

The trees were unveiled on December 2d, 2024 at an invitation-only, in-person event, hosted by 89.9 The Wave where donors meet their wish kids, hear their stories and celebrate the joy of the season. Following the event, the trees were delivered to each wish family’s home for them to enjoy over the holidays.

It was a December to Remember. Our Team sponsored two wish trees. One was created for a brave 14-year-old who LOVES all things Halloween — no cute stuff here, just pure spooky fun! And the other one was inspired by a magical theme park in Orlando!

Thank you to everyone who made December so special. Together, we’ve made a difference and brought smiles to those who needed it most.

Trees of Joy Story

The Trees of Joy initiative draws inspiration from the history of Make-A-Wish, which began in 1980 when a young boy named Christopher, battling a life-threatening illness, had his dream of becoming a police officer fulfilled. This experience sparked the creation of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, the largest wish-granting charity in the world.

In 1983, the first Canadian wish was granted to Debbie, a 13-year-old battling leukemia, who wished to visit her grandparents in Germany. The following year saw the establishment of Children's Wish in Atlantic Canada, committed to granting dreams. In 2019, Make-A-Wish Canada and Children's Wish merged, enhancing their ability to fulfill wishes for more children across the country. Rooted in community strength, the organization believes that granting wishes not only transforms the lives of children and families but also strengthens community bonds, creating lasting impacts long after the wish is granted.
